Dr. Rahat Indori, born on 1 January 1950 in Indore to Rafatullah Qureshi, a cloth mill worker, and Maqbool Un Nisa Begum, tragically passed away on 11 August 2020. He was their fourth child and received his education at Nutan School in Indore for his Higher Secondary studies. Dr. Indori graduated from Islamia Karimia College (IKDC) in Indore in 1973 and earned his MA in Urdu literature from Barkatullah University in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, in 1975. Renowned for his command over prose and poetry, he achieved a PhD in Urdu literature from the Bhoj University of Madhya Pradesh in 1985 with his notable thesis on 'Urdu Main Mushaira'.

Dr. Rahat Indori was widely acclaimed as not just an Urdu poet but also as a Bollywood lyricist and a prominent figure in literary circles. Prior to this, he had served as an educator of Urdu literature at Indore University. Dr. Indori's poetic genius and unique style of presenting mushaira endeared him to millions of fans across the globe.

For over 40-45 years, Dr. Rahat Indori enthralled audiences through his performances at Mushaira and Kavi Sammelan events. He took his poetic talents worldwide, participating in numerous international events across countries such as the USA, UK, Canada, Singapore, Mauritius, KSA, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, among others.
